Lalo Kalosipani News 9 from Matahau
Malo mu'a ho'omou lelei. Sorry it's been late due to the inconvenience of the internet in our part of the world, but we manage to snap some time and resources to get in touch with you all.
'Oku mau mo'ui lelei pe, 'ikai ke 'i ai ha fokoutua neongo e ngaahi 'aho 'uho'uha ko 'eni. Mo'ui lelei pe 'a Maliana mo e hokohoko atu ai pe lau atu ho'omou hourly rosary. Mo'ui lelei pe 'a Tiana pehe ki he'ene ongo ki'i uaa, Milika jr who's getting smarter by the day, and little SaimoneJr who's getting even more handsome as the day goes by. Fifita and Poini jr too are both doing Ok, as far all I can see.
However last week, we had the great company of our friend from the Solomon Islands, who happens to know Hikolahi during my namesake's time of duty in the Solos (Solomon Is), and we're happy too he'ene taimi 'oku mau feohi ai 'i 'api he 'oku feohi ngofua and can easy relate too. The boys in Matahau had him around for whatever goes in our little village, hange ko e inukava, kai la'ilu mo e kai hamu and he enjoys it.
Last week Friday na'e fakahoko ai e dinner fundraising 'a e kau ta'ahine taupo'ou sevaniti (Sr. Clare's gang). Na'e lava mai ki ai e tamaiki tangata Matahau, led by Dateline, Likuesi, Tutulu and Kolo Pousini for roasting the pigs and the food here at the Lalo Kalosipani due to my unavailability. The fundraising managed to raise TOP$10,000 . . . pretty rich aye! and little Saimone got himself a 'walker' as a gift. Their plate was TOP$25, pretty expensive to my humble means, but I guess the public took it up for sympathy.
Last Sunday we nearly had a fight during Mass but saved by the bell due to choir faults. Ne fehalaaki e hua hiva e tama hiva ki he "'Eiki e, tali mai mu'a 'emau kole ni", but worse is that he did it twice, one after the other. But what made it even worst, is that he ended up laughing right after he sang it wrongly, that everybody at church there could hear him giggling . . . even the new priest, Fr.Visone Tangifua. Mau si'i faka'ofa'ia pe hono taa'i, he ko hoku ki'i matapule mei Niuafo'ou, 'oku mali mo Malia'ema (ta'ahine 'a Tukueke mo Pilini).
But this whole week was good news for us locals in Matahau, ko 'emau ako hiva ki he tau'olunga e ta'ahine Miss Leiola, for the fe'auhi tau'olunga 'o e Heilala Beauty Pageant, coz we get to have a tou'a every night she comes for practice . . . kauteme, me'a ko e ma'alahi 'a e folahaka, toe malimali 'ene fakavaleloto, ko 'ene toki melie mo'oni ia e me'a ko e kavatonga. But actually, the song we sang is alright, it shouldn't be a problem except that our tou'a has to losen up our focus from her in order to focus more on the song at hand. I have to say, this is unavoidable . . . lol, just kiddin' folks! Moreover, we (kalapu Fe'ofa'aki-'a-kakau) also hiva ki he tau'olunga 'a e ta'ahine ko 'Etivise Sikei jr ki he fe'auhi tau'olunga 'a e fanau iiki (juniors) which is on this Thursday, so wish us luck fellas!
Okay famili, gotta go. You DO know I'm emailing from work, don't you?
'Ofa lahi atu,
