Samoa Matalasi - Latest from Fr Hiko

Talofa lava everybody.

I hope everybody is well and looking forward to the holidays. Our school's academic year has now come to an end. Last Thursday was the prize giving ceremony. There were so many disruptions (swine fly, road switch and tsunamis) to our school's programmes this year but we managed to hold on and end the year on a good note.

I am going home for the holidays via Australia. It's a long road to freedom! I am leaving tommorrow and tufi niu in Aussie land before heading home. Filimi arrives from the States on Wednesday morning with a tabernacle for Fr Unaloto's new church.

Good to hear from you Tavo and please do send our love to Poini, Lua and the family. Speaking of rugby, did you watch any game of our Tongan national team? The first game was against Ireland A and they got thrashed. The second was against Scotland A and I don' t want to know the result. There is only one test match in the tour and it is against Portugal. Teuteu lahi 'a Tonga ki he tau'i e ipu 'a mamani e! Na'e mei 'aonga e silini ia ko ia ke tokoni'i 'aki 'a Niua he tsunami. 'Asinga ai he ko e manager 'o e tour, Patele Seluini, 'oku toe assistant coach pe kia 'Isitolo Maka. Mohe 'a Talia ia.

I watched the Tongan items in the Miss South Pacific Beauty Pageant which was held recently in Fiji. The 4 Tongan dancers were like weight lifters! 'Ana 'oku sai pe e fola haka ia (koe hako'i punake foki eni) ka ko e fu'u sisino atu 'oku te manava si'i na'a mahaki mafu ha taha.

Fr 'Unaloto's parish had a confirmation last Sunday and I am pretty sure there were lots of envelopes ka 'oku kei longo pe motu'a! We are fine here and that's all the news for now.

'Oku ou 'ofa atu kiate kimoutolu hono kotoa,

Fr. Hiko
